Today is a sort of light down day. In our triathlon goodie bag (a spiffy half mesh duffle bag with an insulated zip bottom compartment) we got a pair of Yankz tri laces. For those not familiar, there are sort of these bungee laces that allow you to slip your shoes on in transition without tying them. I am going to get those in and laced up and give them a wee little test run to make sure I like them and they'll work for tomorrow.
I did run the course Thursday night and wore my other shoes. I've had them since March and for some reason they decide to give me a giant quarter size blister smack dab in the middle of the bottom of my left heel? WTF? Argh.
So it's back to my "bowling shoes" as I call them. A pair of men's New Balance Minimus that I got USED (hence the "bowling shoe" nickname) from an REI attic sale. They are slightly too big but this is good as my toes don't go numb when my feet swell halfway through the run. They stink to high hell so I need to wash them after this race. They were ten dollars and my best shoes ever. I've almost given up trying to buy a new pair as I keep going back to these.

I'll end with my little mantra that I'll be saying to myself all through the triathlon tomorrow. No music or headphones allowed so it's just me and my thoughts. I say this to myself a lot during a race. I inventory each body part and tell it that it can still go and turn on my brain to tell it that it needs to stay strong.
