Today is get ready for homeschool day.
I have registered P for this year with the county.
I have ordered her Saxon Math package for the year.
She is registered for some fun classes with the local home school coop to include a robotics league and a cryptology course.
We sat down and made a list of field trips this year. We decided on going to Monticello, Gettysburg, the Planetarium and a few other things like some art museums, the Maryland Science Center, aquarium, Kennedy Center and the local farms for fall produce and pumpkins.
P enjoyed her interactive notebooks last year so we are continuing with those this year. We will have her "English" one that will have writing prompts for creative writing; articles for her to read and review; book reports; and journal writing. Her science one will keep track of experiments to include our cake myth busters project; pizza science; candy science; and some other experiments like bread mold, orange candles, and a Lego marble maze.
Some of the books we have picked out for her reading this year are:
Hoot
From the Mixed Up File of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
Enders Game
The Borrowers
The House With A Clock in its Walls
Holes
Magyk
Now it's time to put together a crock pot of Chicken Philly Cheesesteak goodness (to be served on crusty rolls with fries for dinner later) and go out and do another practice run on the triathlon bike course before having to do laundry and get ready for another week of work.
Here is one of the writing prompt pics I have set aside for P's notebook this year:
